Buying salved cars from police impound yards or a local salvage car dealer is a very good option if you know how to buy a car. You must have in-depth knowledge of cars and you should be able to tell which cars to buy and which not to buy. Salvaged cars can be from accidents or cars impounded by the police. Sometimes these cars come with minor body damage but the vital parts of the cars may be damaged beyond repair, on the other hand some cars come with extensive damage to the body but the vital parts are intact, these are a good deal since the body can be easily repaired. But how will one know which cars to buy and which ones to avoid? Here are a few guidelines on buying salvage cars on auction:
• Firstly the overall condition of the car should be judged. Often these deals are conducted online and the buyers only get to see a profile of the car. It is recommended that the buyer goes and inspects the car in person, in this way he can also know If all the important parts of the car are in order or not.
• The brand of the salvaged car is also an important factor, there is no point in buying a Ferrari at a cheap rate since the parts are very costly and will make you sell your home to refurbish it. It is good to avoid the luxury brands and stick to the utility brands whose spare parts are less expensive and easily available in the market. Ford is one such brand whose spares are available almost everywhere and the parts come at a very cheap rate. Brands like Toyota and General
Motors are also good options.
• The license plate number of the car should be noted first and the car should be check for any traffic violations or in any criminal case. The inquiry should be done with the police stations or on websites that provide information about any pending cases on a particular vehicle. Often the vehicles are used in getaways after committing a crime and later the buyer may face harassment if the case is not cleared.
• If the car is not in running order then next one needs to check if the parts can be used to refurbish other cars. Often few spare parts are very rare and difficult to procure, there are some spare parts that are extremely small and to procure that part, entire set needs to be bought form the company; these parts may be extracted from the salvaged cars and used in other cars.
• If the cars are totally out of order, another viable option is to buy the car as scrap and then recycle is completely. The various grades of metals need to be separated and then smelted to obtain pure liquid metal can grab a good price in the raw materials market.
Hence it is a good option to check out salvage car auction websites from time to time and also visit local yards to grab a good and profitable deal on salvaged cars.
